Marcus McFerren, M.D., PH.D.

Dr. McFerren practices in our Orange office. He is affiliated with St. Vincent's Medical Center and the VA Connecticut Healthcare System.

About

Dr. McFerren is a Board Certified Dermatologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is a graduate of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and holds a PhD from the Cornell University Department of Plant Biology. Dr. McFerren completed his Residency in Dermatology at the Yale University School of Medicine and his training in Internal Medicine at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.

Dr. McFerren has held faculty appointments at the Cornell Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine, Swarthmore College, Downstate Medical Center, and is currently on the teaching staff at Danbury Hospital. Due to his unique expertise in both botany and dermatology he is a frequent national and international lecturer on the beneficial and injurious effects of plants and plant products on the skin. He has previously received the Elle Magazine Genius Award for his contributions to cosmetic dermatology and he has written numerous scientific articles and book chapters.

Dr. McFerren’s special clinical interests include medical and procedural dermatology; nail disease and surgery; the use of cosmetic neuromodulators (i.e, botox) and dermal fillers; unique disease presentations in ethnic skin; the treatment of psoriasis using immunomodulator therapies; and the use of alternative and complementary/botanical therapies.

Dr. McFerren is an active member of the greater New Haven community as a coach for the Northeast Flag Football League and member of LEAP for Kids Executive Board.
